Artist Profile: Nishan J. Akgulian

Nishan J.Akgulian has been working as an illustrator for over a dozen years. A native of Racine, Wisconsin, he is a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, where he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in graphic design. In 1986 he moved to New York City to pursue a career in illustration.

Nishan combines expressive brushstrokes and watercolor with his love of the minimal aesthetic and the visual of action and gesture. The end result is an artistic energy on the painted surface.
